La Sienna Cafe – Chapel St, Melbourne
We popped in here on St Patricks for a bite to eat as the Irish bar was too packed to get into.
We were 3 and decided to share a few plates to share while having a few beers.
First out was the pizza which was good, my only complaint was I have found in Australia that they love to put sauces on everything. All in all a good flavour and crispy base.
Then came the calamari which were great, small bites of crispy squid with lemon. The was a dipping sauce which for me didn’t work but after spending so much time in Spain its something i’m not used to.
The final dish was the pork belly with an Asian glaze and apple, this was a fantastic and worth heading over there just to try this dish. Really well glazed where its not to sticky or sweet with a raw salad to cut through.
We found it to be expensive but mainly due to the amount of beers that went down. For the location and quality of the food it was good value. Like everywhere I have found in Oz is the food is reasonable but the drinks can soon creep up to a stiff bill.
